The Edmonds Cookery Book is a great practical cookery book and is common in a lot of New Zealand households. I have memories of pouring over both my mothers and grandmothers ones looking for a recipe we could make together or getting advice when I needed to know how to make certain foods. It is not limited to baking, but is an all round cook book that covers all the basics from meals to baking, to preserves and sauces.
Some of the recipes I would regularly use are Anzac biscuits, Coconut Chocolate Brownies, Scones, 3 Minute Sponge, Peanut Brownies, Russian Fudge, Trifle, Coconut Chocolate Biscuits, Chocolate Fudge and Microwave Crumble to name a few.
I highly recommend it and have had a number of copies myself over the years that have been left with different friends around the world before I bought another one.
