When I was growing up I always remember going to my grandmas and she would make scones for lunch. It would be either be date or sultana. If you would prefer to make sultana ones just replace the dates with sultanas and follow the same process.
3 cups flour
6 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1-1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup chopped dates
Sift flour baking powder and salt into bowl.
Cut in butter and mix till resembles fine bread crumbs
Add milk and mix quickly with a knife to a soft dough
Knead in a the dates until just mixed
Roll out on floured board and cut up.
Place on lightly dusted oven tray
Bake at 220 C for 10 minutes or till golden brown
