Recently we were having visitors for afternoon tea and my husband asked what we should make for them. I didn’t really feel like baking but we had some left over pizza dough from the night before.
I suggested we do some caramel apple and roll it into the dough. My husband likes experimenting and comes up with good flavours so he added some cinnamon and chopped nuts to make it a little more interesting.
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 apples peeled and chopped
a handful of chopped nuts and raisins
1 tsp cinnamon
Melt the butter, add the apples and brown sugar and simmer gently until apple is cooked.
Add the remaining ingredients and cook for a few minutes
Roll out the pizza dough, spread the apple mixture on top
Roll up the dough and close the ends
Bake on 180 C for about 15-20 minutes until the dough is golden.
I have to confess that it was so delicious that in the past week we have made it three times and while I was processing the photos for this post I finished off the last piece – my husband is due home soon and I am sure he will be looking for it…
