Trifle is a dessert that we always had at Christmas when I was a child. I remember my Grandma making it with home made preserves and sponge soaked in sherry. Usually it consists of fruit, sponge and custard then decorated with cream. The sponge can be made moist with Sherry, jelly or fruit juice. One of the best things about trifle is that you can make it the day before so there is less to do on the day you are planning to have it for dessert.

To make a quick and easy trifle you will need:
1 sponge cake
1 packet of jelly made up
1 large tin of peaches
3 cups of custard
Whipped Cream to Decorate
Buy or make a sponge cake
Make up the jelly and leave to set
Make 3 cups of custard
Drain and slice peaches
When everything is ready layer together jelly, peaches, sponge and custard. If you are not making it in individual servings you can do it in a big bowl and layer the ingredients twice before decorating with cream.
